The RYDER Projects is pleased to present Forecasting, a solo exhibition by Jude Crilly. Through sculpture, video and sound, the exhibition reflects on the idea of forecasting, the process of predicting future trends based on present data.

The artist has created a lookbook PDF animation, forecasting an array of emergent trends. The lookbook acts as an algorithmic spell, a constant feed which creates its own fractal logic. A modern-day prophet, depicted as a multi-faced fashionista avatar, inhabits the gallery, scanning the surroundings for meaningful symbols and patterns. A frenetic fashion collection emerges. A soundscape, harvested from the dark net, rides over this landscape of speculation and paranoia.

Building on concerns in Crilly’s previous work, the exhibition explores the search for meaning in a future not yet materialised, and the mysticism rooted in the technologies that shape our experience.

Jude Crilly is an artist based between Amsterdam and London.
